Italian roasted chickpeas

This tasty chickpea recipe makes a quick healthy and protein power snack that you can take on the go.  Whip up a batch today and keep yourself powered in a healthy way throughout the day.


2 cans of garbanzo beans (also known as chick peas)

olive oil or cooking spray

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/4 tsp dried thyme

1/4 tsp dried rosemary

1/4 tsp sage

1/4 tsp basil


Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Drain and rinse the garbanzo beans and spread them in a single layer on a dish towel.  Pat them dry with another dish towel and let them sit for 5-10 minutes.

Place the beans onto a baking sheet in single layer and bake for 30 minutes.  Gently shake the pan every 10 minutes to move the beans around.

Combine all the spices listed above in a small bowl and stir them until well mixed.

Remove the chickpeas from the oven and coat them lightly with olive oil or cooking spray.  Transfer the beans to a mixing bowl while they are still hot and sprinkle the spice mixture on top of them.  Mix everything together until the beans are well coated.

Spread the seasoned garbanzo beans back onto the baking sheet and bake them in the oven for another 10-15 minutes.  After 15 minutes I then like to turn the oven of but allow the beans to sit in the oven cooking for another 10-15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let cook for 5 minutes before enjoying
